What is the AL Academy?
One of the biggest needs our clients have is for bright, business-ready graduates with some commercial experience, a good grounding in relevant DevOps specialisms and an understanding of Agile working methodologies. The AL Academy provides an intensive 12-week graduate DevOps training course for graduates from STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) that gives them this vital grounding to enable them to be successful in business. Small class-sizes of 6-15 graduates ensures each student receives the attention and support they need.
The Academy is based at our offices in Waterloo, where graduates receive classroom style training from experts in each of the fields of study. Following the 12 week Graduate DevOps training course, you will be placed on site with one of our clients, on a real-world project.
We regularly check in, provide support and mentoring to make sure our grads are progressing and learning in their roles. We expect graduates from the course to commit to working for AL for a two-year period on a training contract. After this time graduates are free to stay with Automation Logic, move to work for the end client or progress their career elsewhere with our best wishes.
We’re a rapidly expanding team with around 40 employees as of Q1 2017. Our team includes staff members at every level from graduate through to principal DevOps consultants. Our experienced team members are typically very bright engineers with a DevOps background, but who also have a commercial mindset. They’re the kind of people that love providing beautiful solutions to complex problems.
When we recently carried out our first staff survey, employees told us that they liked the flat hierarchy, the level of access they have to our directors, the transparency within the business on our goals, the level of autonomy people experience in being allowed to do a great job and they particularly liked working with each other, sharing knowledge and hanging out.
We have lots of work outings and socials to make sure we keep that family feeling going.
